On the morning of 9 November, about 30 doctors joined the chain of solidarity.
And already in the afternoon, the trials of their colleagues, detained on Saturday, 7 November, continued. Let us remind you that then the police detained about 60 people. Outstanding Belarusian doctors, unique specialists appeared on a prisoners’ dock – doctors of the Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology, an employee of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, an anesthesiologist from an emergency hospital and others – overall 17 people, some of them received fines, some were arrested for a maximum term under Article 23.34 – 15 days, despite numerous petitions.
Two workshops were stopped at “Grodno Azot”
At the largest enterprise in the country, “Grodno Azot”, two workshops have been stopped. “Ammonia-4” and “Carbamide-4”. The management of the factory presented a reason for what had happened as a violation of the technological process.
In Belarus, “Grodno Azot” is known for the protests of its employees, a strike committee has been established and is working here.
The first block of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) has been shut down due to explosions of transformers
On Sunday, a turbine was stopped on the first unit of the BelNPP due to the failure of voltage transformers.
The reason for the shutdown is the explosions of several voltage transformers (they are designed to measure the voltage in power electrical circuits) on one of the units connected to a generator.
In the near future, the station will not generate energy. Experts say that such an incident has no impact on the safety of the reactor in terms of radiation leakage.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant was launched on Saturday 7 November.
Zmitser Dashkevich was released and told about torture at Akrestsina Street
Public figure, politician, ex-head of the opposition organization “Young Front” was released after 15 days of arrest. “For five years in prisons, I have not seen this – people are tortured in Akrestsina, we must speak aloud about it,” Zmitser said in an interview to Nasha Niva, “they threw me into a prison cell with traffic police colonel Siarhei Maslousky, he was lying on this concrete for 13 days. In the next cell there was police captain Dzmitry Kulakouski, who left the service in August [after the start of the protests]. They are not given any toothpaste, no pills, no parcels from relatives.”
Zmitser was repeatedly convicted on political grounds. International organization Amnesty International recognized Dashkevich as a prisoner of conscience.
Two British diplomats declared persona non grata in Belarus
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus declared British diplomats persona non grata, allegedly for “collecting information about the internal political situation in Belarus on the course of the protests”.
We are talking about the military attaché Timothy White Boycott and the deputy ambassador Lisa Tamwood.
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab immediately reacted to the incident. “The dispatching of two United Kingdom diplomats from Belarus for legitimate observation of the protests is completely unjustified,” he said. “Lukashenka cannot hide the pressure on his own people. The only way forward is free and fair elections and the punishment of those responsible for the violence against the demonstrators.”
