The funeral of Raman Bandarenka took place on 20 November. Thousands of people came to say goodbye to the victim of political violence. But even Raman’s funeral gave official propaganda a reason to defile the memory of the deceased, the grief and sympathy of people. On state television, people who came to the church to say goodbye to Raman were called satanists.
While lawlessness and legal excesses is taking place on the streets of Minsk and other cities – people are being arrested right on the streets, doors being broken down, searches are being carried out, civilians are beaten and tortured in prisons – Lukashenkо falsely declares that “fascism” cannot be linked to him. On 22 November, thousands of protesters took to the “March against Fascism.” The protesters changed tactics to protest in courtyards after numerous detentions in the past weeks. People are tired of being afraid, they are not afraid even of the explosions of stun grenades. The security forces were not ready for this format and acted more chaotically. New tactics have reduced the number of detainees.
